Conditions of Udhiyah - Qurbani

Praise be to Allaah.

Our Intention
One who is giving Qurbani should intend as below:

I intend to offer a sacrifice on behalf of myself and my children.

Are there any specific characteristics that the animal should have, or is it correct to sacrifice any sheep?.

There are six conditions for the udhiyah:

1. It should be one of the an’aam class of animals, which are: camels, cattle, sheep and goats, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And for every nation We have appointed religious ceremonies, that they may mention the Name of Allaah over the beast of cattle that He has given them for food” [al-Hajj 22:34]

Baheemat al-an’aam (translated here as “beast of cattle”) includes camels, cattle and sheep. This is what is well known among the Arabs, and this was the view of al-Hasan, Qataadah and others.

2. It should have reached the age stipulated in sharee’ah, which is six months for a sheep and the age at which the animal is considered to be an adult for any other animal, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Do not sacrifice anything but an adult animal, unless it is difficult for you, in which case you may slaughter a six-month old lamb (jadh’ah).” Narrated by Muslim.

A mature animal means one that is considered to be an adult.

In the case of camels it means one that is five years old.

For cattle, it means one that is two years old.

For sheep it means one that is one year old.

The jadh’ah is that which is half a year old. So it is not correct to sacrifice a camel, cow or goat that has not yet reached maturity, or a sheep that is less than six months old.

sacrificing a sheep less than a year is disliked

3. It should be free of any faults that would render it unsuitable for sacrifice, of which there are four:

1. An obvious defect in one eye, such as when the eye is sunken in its socket, or when it sticks out like a button, or is white and obviously defective.

2. Obvious sickness, whose symptoms are clearly apparent in the animal, such as fever that prevents it from grazing and causes loss of appetite; mange that obviously affects its flesh or its health; deep wounds that affect its health, and so on.

3. Obvious lameness, which prevents the animal from walking normally.

4. Emaciation that leaves no marrow in the bones,

Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about what should be avoided in udhiyah, he gestured with his hand and said: “Four: a lame animal which is obviously lame, a one-eyed animal whose defect is obvious, a sick animal whose sickness is obvious, and an emaciated animal that no one would choose.” Narrated by Maalik in al-Muwatta’ from the hadeeth of al-Bara’ ibn ‘Aazib. According to a hadeeth narrated from him in al-Sunan, he said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stood up among us and said: ‘There are four which are not permissible for sacrifice,’” and he mentioned something similar. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel, 1148.

These four faults render an animal unsuitable for sacrifice, and they include similar faults or more severe faults. So the following animals are also unsuitable for sacrifice:

1. One that is blind in both eyes.

2. One that has eaten more than it can stand, until the danger has passed.

3. One that has encountered difficulty in giving birth, until all danger has passed.

4. One that has suffered something that could kill it, such as strangulation or a fall from a high place, until the danger has passed.

5. One that is unable to walk because of a defect.

6. One that has had one of its forelegs or hind legs cut off.

If these are added to the four defects mentioned in the text, the number of those that cannot be offered as sacrifices reaches ten – these six and the four mentioned above.

4. The animal should belong to the person who is offering the sacrifice, or he should have permission for that either on the grounds of sharee’ah or from the owner. The sacrifice is not valid if the animal slaughtered does not belong to the person who is sacrificing it, such as one that has been taken by force, stolen, or taken on the basis of a false claim, etc, because it is not permissible to draw closer to Allaah by means of sin. A sacrifice offered by the guardian of an orphan from the orphan’s property is valid if that is customary and if he feels sad about not offering a sacrifice.

A sacrifice offered by a guardian from the property of the person under his care is valid, if done with permission.

5. No one else should have any rights to the sacrificial animal; the sacrifice of an animal that is held in pledge is not valid.

6. It should be slaughtered at the time specified in sharee’ah,

which is from after the Eid prayer on the Day of Sacrifice until sunset on the last of the days of al-Tashreeq, which is the 13th of Dhu’l-Hijjah. So the days when the sacrificed may be offered are four:

1. The day of Eid after the prayer
2. the three days after that.
3. Whoever slaughters it before the Eid prayer is over, or after sun sets on the 13th of Dhu’l-Hijjah, his sacrifice is not valid, because of the hadeeth narrated by al-Bukhaari from al-Bara’ ibn ‘Aazib (may Allaah be pleased with him), according to which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Whoever slaughters (his sacrifice) before the prayer, it is meat that he has brought to his family, but that is not the sacrifice.” And he narrated that Jundub ibn Sufyaan al-Bajali (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saying, ‘Whoever slaughters the sacrifice before he prays, let him replace it with another.’” And it was narrated that Nubayshah al-Hadhali (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘The days of al-Tashreeq are the days of eating, drinking and remembering Allaah.’” Narrated by Muslim.

But if he has an excuse for delaying it beyond the days of Tashreeq, such as if the animal ran away, without there being any negligence on his part, and he could not find it until after the time was over, or he appointed someone else to slaughter it and that person forgot until the time was over, then there is nothing wrong with slaughtering it after the appointed time. This is by analogy with the one who sleeps and misses a prayer, or forgets it – he should pray it as soon as he wakes up or remember it.

It is permissible to slaughter the udhiyah at any time, night or day, but it is better to slaughter it during the day, and it is better to slaughter on the day of Eid after the two khutbahs. Each day is better than the day that follows it, because that means that one is hastening to do good.

The world's oldest (1,600-year) known Christian Bible goes online -- but text doesn't match the one you'll find in churches today

Source :

LONDON, England (CNN) -- The world's oldest known Christian Bible goes online Monday -- but the 1,600-year-old text doesn't match the one you'll find in churches today.
The British government bought most of the pages of the ancient manuscript in 1933.

Discovered in a monastery in the Sinai desert in Egypt more than 160 years ago, the handwritten Codex Sinaiticus includes two books that are not part of the official New Testament and at least seven books that are not in the Old Testament.

The New Testament books are in a different order, and include numerous handwritten corrections -- some made as much as 800 years after the texts were written, according to scholars who worked on the project of putting the Bible online. The changes range from the alteration of a single letter to the insertion of whole sentences.

And some familiar -- very important -- passages are missing, including verses dealing with the resurrection of Jesus, they said.

Juan Garces, the British Library project curator, said it should be no surprise that the ancient text is not quite the same as the modern one, since the Bible has developed and changed over the years.

"The Bible as an inspirational text has a history," he told CNN.

"There are certainly theological questions linked to this," he said. "Everybody should be encouraged to investigate for themselves."

That is part of the reason for putting the Bible online, said Garces, who is both a Biblical scholar and a computer scientist.

"Scholars will want to look very closely at it, and some of the Web site functionality is specifically for them -- the ability to search the text, the ability to highlight a word, the degree of detail is particularly interesting for scholars interested in the text," he said.

Dont divide religion and break up into sects - warninig from Allah Aswajal.

Al Quran 6:159 [ Surat Al-'An`ām (The Cattle) ]

Yusuf Ali: As for those who divide their religion and break up into sects, thou hast no part in them in the least: their affair is with Allah: He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did.

Bid‘ah = Hell fire

The Messenger of Allaah (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) used to say in his khutbahs (sermons): "The truest of speech is the Book of Allaah, the best guidance is that of Muhammad and the worst of things are those which are newly invented. Every newly-invented thing is a bid‘ah, every bid‘ah is a going astray, and every going astray will end in the Fire of Hell." (Reported by al-Nisaa’i, may Allaah have mercy on him, in al-Sunan, Kitaab salaat al-‘eidayn, no. 1560).

Historic Islamic City of Kashgar to be Demolished - Sign of the hour

Abu Hurairah said, I heard the Prophet saying to Thawban, O Thawban, what
will you do when the nations call one another to invade you as people call
one another to come and eat from one bowl? Thawban said, May my father and
my mother be sacrificed for you. O Messenger of Allah! Is it because we
are so few The Prophet said, No, on that day you (Muslims) will be many,
but Allah will put weakness (wahn) in your hearts. The people asked, What
is that weakness, O Messenger of Allah? He said, It is love for this world
and dislike of fighting. (Ahmad.)

Bulldozers reducing Kashgar Old City to rubble

After surviving for centuries at the edge of the desert in a land more removed from the oceans than anywhere on Earth, the Silk Road oasis of Kashgar, and home of the great Hanafi jurist al-Kashgari, will soon be destroyed once and for all

Nine hundred families already have been moved from Kashgar's Old City, "the best-preserved example of a traditional Islamic city to be found anywhere in central Asia," as the architect and historian George Michell wrote in the 2008 book Kashgar: Oasis City on China’s Old Silk Road.

The Uyghur American Association (UAA) is extremely disturbed about the demolition of Kashgar’s Old City, the home of more than 200,000 Uyghurs and an ancient cradle of traditional Uyghur culture, which appears to be reaching a critical and irreversible stage. Kashgar, an oasis on the Silk Road that served as a center of vibrant trade and cultural exchange for hundreds of years, lies in the southwestern part of East Turkestan (also known as Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in the People’s Republic of China) and has a total population of around 400,000 people. According to a June 18 report, a medieval Islamic college in the Old City that was listed as an Autonomous Region-level protected cultural site was recently demolished. Another article reported that June 18 was the last day that residents of the Old City could agree to move out voluntarily.

Government authorities began carrying out the destruction of Kasghar’s Old City in February 2009, as part of a “residents resettlement project” aimed at moving the 65,000 Uyghur households in the Old City. In 2008, the State Council of the National People’s Congress designated nearly three billion yuan to the project. While the official Chinese media has said the project is being driven by official concerns over earthquake safety, poor drainage, and other public safety issues, UAA remains concerned that it is being motivated by a long-standing campaign to eradicate Uyghur culture and identity.

“Chinese authorities are no longer content to eradicate our language from schools and our religion from mosques,” said Uyghur democracy leader Rebiya Kadeer. “Now they are physically tearing down our homes, our businesses and our places of worship. What will happen to people who refuse to move out of their homes in the Old City? What happens when the government destroys cultural sites that it has itself deemed worthy of protection? The international community must call upon China to prevent the further destruction of the Old City, for the sake of Uyghur cultural identity and to prevent the loss to the world of an irreplaceable center of architecture and heritage.”

It is not clear at present how much of the more than eight square kilometers of the Old City is left, but reports from the media and concerned groups have documented the destruction of parts of the city and the corresponding resettlement of residents to apartment blocks in an area about eight or nine kilometers outside of Kashgar, not far from the airport. In addition to being uprooted from their jobs, communities and centers of worship, residents have also reported that they have received inadequate compensation for their Old City homes. Online forums in the Uyghur language have reported that Old City residents were given no opportunity to voice their opinion about the demolition project or their resettlement.

According to one report, the Islamic college demolished in recent days, known as the Xanliq Madrasa, may have been torn down to make room for an athletic field. One of the school’s most famous students is said to have been Mahmud Kashgari, an 11th-century Uyghur scholar and writer who occupies a central place in both Uyghur and Turkish history. His seminal work, Turkiy Tillar Divani (Compendium of the Language of the Turks), was the first comprehensive dictionary of Turkic languages. The 1,000th anniversary of his birth was nationally celebrated in 2008 in Turkey. The Xanliq Madrasa itself was the first in East Turkestan to combine Islamic and “scientific” curricula, introducing a trend of similar schools with modern teaching methods in the region and, later, reformist social and political movements.

The Times newspaper reported that June 18 was the last day for residents of the Old City to claim a bonus for agreeing to move out before their houses are destroyed. The Times reported a palpable fear in the air among the remaining Old City residents, who indicated a heavy police presence and were reluctant to talk. One resident displayed a lack of confidence in government assertions that newly-built apartment blocks would be safer in an earthquake than the Old City buildings that had withstood centuries and sheltered generations.

Chinese organizations and scholars are among those observers who have raised concerns over the destruction of the Old City, including concerns over the loss of cultural heritage. The chairman of an NGO in Beijing devoted to historic preservation said large-scale demolition was unnecessary, and said rebuilding must use original materials and techniques. “The local Uighurs are the spirit of the Old City,” he said. “If people move out, the city would lose its soul.” A Beijing professor suggested that houses in the Old City could be reinforced and repaired instead of completely demolished, as the Old City contains “the typical Uighur way of life, production and culture.”

The wishes of Old City residents, whether they are to live in modern apartment blocks or remain in their Old City homes, should be respected. However, it is clear that Uyghurs’ voices were not included in the decision-making process surrounding the “resettlement project”, and that no participatory process existed for Old City residents. Instead, they were faced with propaganda and intimidation, including television programs and signs throughout the Old City exhorting them to leave. Those who wish to stay face a lack of any institutional mechanism with which to express their grievances, and fear that if they voice any complaints, they may be subject to severe punishment from authorities.

Chinese official Wang Zhengrong stated that not all of the Old City is earmarked for demolition and that sections will be “protected, managed, and developed” with the aim of “creating international heritage scenery”, which will increase income from tourism. Wang added that under the plans, tourists would still be able to view “minority lifestyle and architectural characteristics.” UAA is concerned that the remaining sections of the Old City will take on the characteristics of an open-air museum of Uyghur culture, where once a vibrant community lived. The value of tourism to the Kashgar economy is approximately 620 million yuan. So far, no indication has been given as to who will be the beneficiaries of a Chinese-managed Kashgar Old City.

While the Chinese government has proposed that China’s Silk Road locations be included in a UNESCO World Heritage List, Kashgar was glaringly omitted from China’s application (with the exception of the tomb of Mahmud Kashgari), though Kashgar was arguably the most important Silk Road crossroads within the territory of present-day China. According to a report from the Congressional-Executive Committee on China (CECC), the Chinese government also exploited ambiguities in the framework for heritage protection to bypass formal protections in its Historic Cities Regulation that could have protected buildings in the Old City. CECC also noted that “the Chinese government has formally committed itself to preserve its cultural heritage not only through its domestic legislation but also through its ratification of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention.”

UAA calls on the international community, in particular UNESCO, to ask the Chinese government to halt the demolition of Kashgar Old City, in keeping with domestic laws guaranteeing the protection of historic sites and cultural heritage and the UNESCO World Heritage Convention. UAA also urges authorities in Kashgar to ensure adequate protection of property rights and compensation for the homes of Kashgar residents.

Pearls of Wisdom

1. Taking control of the desires is the way to defeat Satan.

2. Never belittle any talk that involves absent people even if there is no harm in it due to the possibility of harm entering into it.

3. Should you resolve to do something then do it immediately before the resolve wanes and also you do not know whether you will be among the living or the dead tomorrow, so you must act now.

4. Treat others just as you would want to be treated and fulfill that which is due to them.

5. If you desire to live such that your religion is safe and your portion is full and your honor is sound, guard your tongue and never mention another's faults remembering that you yourself have faults and others have tongues.

6. Live treating others well and avoid aggression, and should others aggress against you leave them but in the best way..

7. Do good for the remainder of your life and you will be forgiven for what you did in the past. However, if you do evil in what remains of your life, you will be held responsible for what you did in the past and in the future.

8. The standard for happiness for a believer is whether the work he has done will help him achieve his overall goal of pleasing Allah and attaining Allah's forgiveness and mercy.

9. Everyone who claims to love Allah but does not comply with what Allah has ordered, his claim (to love Allah) is false, and everyone who loves but does not fear Allah has been deceived.

10. Sins bring death to the heart; Abandoning sins is the life of the hearts.

About Christianity

Christianity.... One Christ, One Bible Religion...
You know the Latin Catholic will not enter Syrian Catholic Church.
These two will not enter Marthoma Church..
These three will not enter Pentecost Church.
These four will not enter Salvation Army Church.
These five will not enter Seventh Day Adventist Church.
These six will not enter Orthodox Church.
These seven will not enter Jacobite church. -

Like this there are 146 castes in Kerala alone for Christianity,
each will never share their churches for fellow Christians..!
Wonderful..! One Christ, One Bible, One Jehova.....

What a unity!

--- No Idea on Christianity

About Islam:

1. Now Muslims..! One Allah, One Quran, One Nebi.... Great unity!

(One nabi is false. There are several nabis right from prophet Adam,
and Mohammad (PBUT) is the final prophet, even Jesus (pbuh) is a nabi in

2. Among Muslims, Shia and Sunni kill each other in all the Muslim

(Good allegation: Shia and Sunni are the sects among the followers, but
not in the scripture. The followers are divided due to the lack of the
knowledge of Quran.

In Quran, Allah says: "We have ordained to you and that which we
ordained to Ibrahim, Musa, and Jesus saying you should establish
religion and make no divisions in it". (Quran: 42:13))

3. The religious riot in most Muslim countries is always between these
two sects. ( No knowledge).

4. The Shia will not go to Sunni Mosque.(False: Baseless Allegation -
Any muslim can enter any mosque)
5. These two will not go to Ahamadiya Mosque. (True Lie)
6. These three will not go to Sufi Mosque. (True Lie)
7. These four will not go to Mujahiddin mosque. (True Lie)
8. Like this it appears there are 13 castes in Muslims. (True Lie)

9. Killing / bombing/conquering/ massacring/. .. each other !
The American attack to the Muslim land of Iraq is fully supported by all
the Muslim countries surrounding Iraq!

(False Allegation: Iran, being the first enemy of Iraq, did not support
US attack)

One Allah, One Quran, One Nebi....! Great unity !

10. All Muslims are not Terrorists, but all Terrorists are Muslims.

(This is hypocrysy: Dont tell this infront of the following prominent
1. Sadhvi Pragya Singh and Srikanth Purohit of SRI RAM SENA: they may
plot a terroristic act against you for calling them muslims.
2. If you tell infront of Mutalik of RASHTRIYA HINDU SENA, he may
attack and molest you in your favourtie spot, the pub.
3. If you tell this infront of Narendra Modi, he may attack your family
with his force for calling him a muslim.
4. By the way is LTTE an Islamic group?
5. Is Assam's Hindu Terroristic group ULFA islamic?
There are many other terroristic hindu elements which I am not listing
due to lack of time.

Allah Says in Quran: If anyone killed a person to spread mishcief in
the land - it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved
a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind. (Quran

Morale: No religion encourages antisocial elements. Yet every religion
contains black sheep.Dont blame any religion without the knowledge.

Now coming to Hinduism

1. Hindus - 1,280 Religious Books, 10,000 Commentaries,
more than one lakh sub-commentaries for these foundation books, 330
million gods, variety of Aacharas, thousands of Rishies, hundreds of

(But You forget to mention how many castes and subcastes are present in
hinduism today. I hope you yourself have no idea about the number of
sects in the name of castes and subcastes in hinduism. Am I right?)

2. Still everyone goes to the SAME TEMPLE ...

(This is joke of the millenium: Of which temple you are talking about?
I have some questions on this.
1. Does a outcast person (sc,st,etc) is allowed in ur temple? Why they
are fighting untill recently?
2. Sumbhak was slain (by Rama) because he was making penance which was
forbidden to him by Vedas as he was a "Shudra". (Uttara Kandam, Chapter
76).This point has been taken from Ramayana. Why Rama Killed Sumbhak
( a sudra) in Ramayana? Can u justify this?
3. Does your system allow a knowledgeful SC/ST person as a preach? But
in Islam any learned person can become a preach

3. Whether unity is for Hindus or in others...?

(Of which unity are you talking about??? Again I list some points
below. Please check.
1. I dont know to which caste u belong to. But Do you marry an outcast
girl/boy who doesn't belong to your cast? Praise to be Allah, it is not
there in Islam.
2. Now let us have a glance at verse thirteen of Chapter four of Geeta
where Sri Krishn preaches:
catur-varnyam maya srstam
tasya kartaram api mam
viddhy akartaram avyayam (Bhagawad geeta 4:13)

"Although I have created the four classes (varn )-Brahmin, Kshatriya,
Vaishya and Shudr-according to innate properties and actions, know me
the immutable as a non-doer.''

The seggregation or say varna is present in the scriptures itself in
hinduism as shown above. Now of which unity you are talking

4. Hindus never quarreled each other for the last ten thousand years in
the name of religion.

This is again fun. Look at following:
1. Recent Communal Clash between two groups in Dr. BR Ambedkar Law
College in Tamilnadu on November 18, 2008. What do u call this?
2. Recent Gujjar conspiracy. What do u call this?
Like wise there are many which I can list. Dont be in an illusion that
only saints are present in your religion.

Only Politicians had tried to divide and rule... Keep Religion out of
Politics and India will be the most peaceful place on earth.

(Very good Allegation: Brother, whoever you are I agree with this
totally because every religion is facing the same situation at present.
So always look a religion out of politics and with truth and respect.
But one question:
1. By your allegations are you sure you are not advertising any
political party? Only you know this.

( Proud to be HUMAN)

Please Pass this reply mail to the person from where you got the
original mail so that it reaches the first person.

Thanks in Advance. May God Bless you. Take Care.

Islam & Magic

Magic is an old human practice. It is sometimes defined as deception by showing something to an audience, which is contrary to reality. In Islam this is part of magic, which is, however, defined as seeking the help of demons to perform something harmful against somebody. In the light of the above definition, Islam considers magic to be an act of blasphemy. Thus, the Holy Quran say: Suleiman (Solomon) did not disbelieve, but the devils disbelieved teaching men magic (2:102). In an authentic saying, the Prophet of Islam p.b.u.h. said: Whoever goes to a fortune teller (a soothe sayer) or a diviner and believes him, has, in fact, disbelieved in what has been revealed to Muhammad.

Thus Islam condemns magic- even what is called the horoscope or luck or reading one's palm to foretell the future is also prohibited in Islam. This is based on the belief that no one knows the future or the unseen except God almighty. That is why the Quran asserts that even Muhammad does not know the unseen. Concerning this, it says: If I had the knowledge of the unseen, I should have secured abundance for myself, and no evil would have touched me (7:188). Again, God is described in the Quran as the knower of the unseen and the manifest (6:73) and as the holder of the keys of the unseen (6:59).

In another tradition, Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h. says: "Avoid the seven deadly acts which are: ascribing partners to God, magic, killing the human self which Allah prohibited except with right, eating usury, devouring the orphan’s wealth, defecting from the battle-field (without a justified reason) and slandering chaste, unwary believing women. Thus Islam has closed the door for practicing magic, simply because it is against its teachings, and it is deceptive and harmful.

Let us now review some of the verses of the Holy Quran that refer to magic: In Chapter two verse 101-102, the Quran says: And when there came to them a Messenger from Allah confirming what was with them, a party of those who were given the scripture threw away the book of Allah behind their backs as if they did not know. And they followed what the devils gave out falsely of magic of the reign of Solomon; for Solomon did not disbelieve but the devils disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels Harut and Marut, but neither of these two (angles) taught anyone (such things) until they had said: we are only for trial, so don't disbelieve. And from them (magicians) people learn that through which they would cause separation between a person and his spouse, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's leave; and they learn that which harms them rather than profits them.

And indeed they knew that its practitioner would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their own selves if they but knew" (2:101-2). Although Solomon was the Prophet and Messenger of God, he was accused by some of his opponents to be practicing magic. Those who claimed this could not distinguish between magic and miracles. Almost all messengers of God were granted miracles as a proof of their authenticity. To name only a few: Moses was granted the staff by which he could divide the sea and make water gush from rocks. Abraham was flung in the middle of a huge raging fire, which Allah made cool and peaceful to him. Jesus Christ could heal the blind and the leper and bring back the dead to life.

miracles are totally different from magic. While magic is always harmful, miracles are useful. Magic is from devils while miracles are from God. When these divine miracles are rejected other miracles are imposed to inflict severe punishments on rejecters. On the other hand, miracles are real while magic is sometimes deceptive.

It may be said that the Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h. was himself exposed to the effect of magic. How could you explain this? This is true; but God saved him from the spell of magic through the repeated remembrance of God and the recitation of some chapters and verses of the Holy Quran. This took place to confirm the humility of Muhammad p.b.u.h. who was a human like other humans. This made it easier for his followers to imitate him. Two questions are pertinent in context: How to protect one’s self from magic? And how to treat a person under the spell of magic? Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h. provided us with the recipe through which we can protect ourselves from magic. We shall be immune from magic if we recite - after the five daily prayers - the last three chapters of the Holy Quran which are number 112, 113 and 114 And here is their translation:

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Say: He is Allah, the One! Allah, the
eternally besought of all! He begets not nor
was begotten. And there is none
comparable unto Him.

In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful
Say I seek refuge in the in the Lord of daybreak
From the evil of that which he created; From
the evil of the darkness when it is intense, and
from the evil of malignant witchcraft, And
from the evil of the envious when he envies.

In the name of Allah the beneficent, the Merciful
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, The
King of mankind, The God of mankind, From
the evil of the sneaking whisper, Who whispers
in the hearts of mankind, Of the jinn and of

These chapters are also recommended to be recited three times after the dawn prayer and three times after the sunset prayer. Secondly Prophet Mohammed p.b.u.h. encouraged us to recite the greatest verse in the Quran called the verse of the Throne, translated as follows:

Allah! There is no God save Him, the Alive, and the Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. Unto Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedes with Him save by His leave? He knows that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His chair encompasses the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the sublime, the Tremendous (2:225).

This verse should be recited after each and every one of the five daily prayers and before going to bed. The Prophet p.b.u.h. also encouraged us Muslims to recite the last two verses of Chapter
two at the beginning of every night whose translation is as follows: The Messenger believes in that which has been revealed unto him from his Lord and (so do)

the believers. Each one believes in Allah and His angles and His scriptures and His messengers and they say: We hear, and we obey. (Grant us) Your forgiveness, our Lord. Unto you is the journeying (2:285). Allah tasks not a soul beyond its scope. For it (is only) that which it has earned, and against it (only) that which it has deserved. Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget, or miss the mark! Our Lord! Lay not on us such a burden as you did lay on those before us! Our Lord! Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear! Pardon us, absolve us and have mercy on us. You are our Patron; so grant us victory over the disbelieving folk (2:286).

Prophet Mohammed p.b.u.h. said: (whoever recites the last two verses of the chapter called the Cow, they will suffice him). This means that they will protect him from every evil. Again seeking refuge in Allah and remembering his name is an effective protection against all evils including magic. Two main supplications are recommended in this respect. They are: 1. I seek refuge in the complete words of Allah from the evils of what He created; 2. In the name of Allah through whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause any harm. If these two prayers are recited three times in the beginning of the day and in the beginning of the night, then no harm or evil will approach the reciter by the grace of Allah. It remains to mention how we can treat a person under the spell of magic. It is possible, on the one hand, to learn magic so that one can use the same tactics. All in all, the best cure is to recite the Quran and seek God's help.
